If you didnt understand my summary of the play here is the summary from the Trinity Rep website:
Runtime: 2 hours, 20 minutes including a 15 minute intermission
Berlin, 1931: music, money, and love are there for the taking. Cliff seeks inspiration for his novel. He finds it in Sally Bowles, the Kit Kat Klub’s chanteuse, who charms him into sharing his apartment. The Emcee has not one but two ladies to keep him company. The landlady’s found new love with the grocer. Yet outside the cabaret the world is changing: what's in store for Sally and her friends? Cabaret celebrates the indomitable human spirit -- what good is sitting alone in your room? The time I went was 2pm. It was the first time I ever went at 2pm and it mostly had elderly people. I am not sure if I would go at 2pm again but everyone was soo mature. I then came to the conclusion that when you get older you are more likely to cut your hair. I just hope that is mostly for the American women.
At the end of the play some ladies were shouting at the stage saying remove the Swastika. me and my not soo knowledgeable self wondering what the hell is a Swastika came home and looked it up. So I suppose it was hitting a nerve for those women seeing the Swastika.
There is a video found on the website. You can see it here.
